FIRAS The installation of our fire rated products is now certified by the UKAS accredited FIRAS Scheme.

‘A correctly fitted and functioning fire resisting door can help to suppress a fire by restricting the amount of oxygen available to it’ (Code of Practice: Hardware for Fire and Escape Doors – DHF 2009). To help ensure that Prima achieve compliance with this code of practice, we have become members of the FIRAS certification scheme.
FIRAS is a UKAS accredited third party certification scheme designed for the certification of component installers involved in the fire protection industry. The scheme assesses the technical capability of the installation contractor, the competence of the contractor’s personnel and regularly inspects on-going contracts for compliance with the scheme and the relevant specifications. It aims to protect the fire protection industry and its clients, from the consequences of having work installed by “Rogue Contractors” who carry out poor installations and work outside of standards and tested constructions.
The scheme is recognised by the DSMA (Door and Shutter Manufacturers Association) who emphasise the importance of the correct installation of steel fire doors in that ‘they must be installed by a firm which is certificated by Warrington FIRAS…to carry out such work in accordance with instructions supplied by the manufacturer’.
